Mung Dal Halwa-Split Green Gram Pudding

Description

Mung dal is split petite yellow lentil with a green skin. You will also find them without the skin in the grocery stores. For the pudding we use the one without the skin. They look like petite yellow lentils.

Method:

  1. In a pan dry roast the soaked mung dal for 2mins
  2. In a separate vessel boil coconut milk. Add cashew paste to the  milk. Mix them well. Add roasted mung dal to this mixture. Stir intermittently – let it cook for 15 mins
  3. Add 2 and half cups of date paste. Stir well. Add raisins, elaichi.
  4. Garnish with dry roasted cashews.

Ingredients

1 cup moong dal – soaked 30 mins
2 tbs Cashew paste
6 cups Coconut milk
2½ cups date paste
½ tsp of elaichi (cardamom)
10 Cashews
20 Raisins
