Jeera rice is very simple and quick to make.
Method:
For rice: Bring 5 to 6 cups of water to boiling. Add rice and salt and cook till the rice is soft (20-25 min). Strain all the water and set the rice aside.
In another pan dry roast cumin seeds and then add chillies (optional). Add rice, cilantro, coriander powder, Jeera powder, garam masala and salt. Saute it for few minutes and turn of the stove.
Brown Basmati Rice – 1/2 kg or 1 pound |
Whole jeera (cumin) – 2 Tablespoons |
Salt – 1/2 Tablespoon (for boiling rice) |
Salt – 1 teaspoons |
Green chilli- 2 (optional) |
Chopped cilantro – 4 teaspoons |
Coriander powder – 1/2 Tablespoon |
Jeera (cumin) powder – 1 Tablespoon |
Garam masala – 1/2 Tablespoon |
