Barbequed Pulled Pork Sandwich

Sylvia from our group comes up with wonderful ideas for meat alternative dishes. Barbequed Pulled Pork Sandwich is one of the dishes that she introduced us to in the support group meeting.


  1. Heat a saucepan in medium heat and sauté onion and garlic.
  2. Add jackfruit/lentils and sauté it for a minute.
  3. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and let it simmer for a few minutes until it reaches barbeque consistency.
  4. Use a fork to pull apart the jackfruit like pulled pork, if using jackfruit.

For preparing the sandwich:

Place prepared pulled pork on the top of the bottom bun and then put the coleslaw on top of it. Add the top of the bun and enjoy!!


1 can of Jackfruit, rinsed
or 1 1/2 cup of cooked green lentils
For Barbeque sauce:
1 red onion sliced
1/2 cup of tomato sauce or paste
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
3-4 cloves, minced
2 teaspoons of smoked paprika
2 teaspoons of mustard powder
1 teaspoon of chipotle powder/chili powder
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/2 cup of honey
