How Beverly went from 6 pills a day to 1 pill a day in 6 months

Post by giftofhealth

I have worked in health care my entire working life.  I have seen the effects of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

I wasn’t just seeing it in my job, I was living that life.

I was overweight for many years and on a weight-loss roller coaster.  I would lose some weight and then always gain it back. I was also struggling with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure which required me to take several medications daily.

“I felt that I should retire sooner rather than later as I felt I would not live to be very old age and I wanted to retire before I died.”

I was feeling pretty discouraged as my health problems were mounting.  I retired early.

I was really getting frustrated about the daily medications I had to take and my overall health. That’s when I heard about the Gift of Health Food as Medicine Program for reversing diabetes and other chronic illnesses. I decided to give it a try.

Before I signed up for the program, I thought I was eating healthy as per the typical North American standards.

My usual foods were:Toast with banana and cheese for breakfast, Turkey Soup with white bread rolls for Lunch, Chicken Sandwich on a bun with fries was for supper, Favourite Snacks – Yogurt and Fruit, Favourite meal – Take out chicken burgers from Mary Browns and tater tots, Ice Cream was my Favourite comfort food and Eating out, at restaurants or take-out places – once a week was the norm.

Even though I was struggling with Diabetes, high blood pressure and acid reflux I wasn’t sure if I would be able to adopt plant-based eating and give up my Mary Brown’s big Mary and taters that I usually have once a week or give up my ice cream or bacon. I love going out with my family and I did not want to eat any different or plant-based when they are enjoying fries and chicken. I thought that would be the most difficult thing to do if I join the program.

I was surprised when I started the 6-week program.

“The Gift of Health gave me the key to a long and healthy life!”

and I never looked back!

With the knowledge, skills and support that was imparted in this program, I became confident. I followed the program diligently and found myself eating more fruits and vegetables than before along with grains, beans, lentils, and seeds. I am glad that Drs. Rayapudis guided me very gently and step by step. They gave us everything that I needed to make the changes to eat better. I found that although it was different from what I was eating before, I loved the food and there was so much variety that I was never bored. It kept me full.

I started seeing results right away, the first thing I noticed was that my blood sugar started to stabilize and went to below 6.  The lowest it had been in quite some time.  I couldn’t believe it.

By the end of the 6-week program, my sugars were consistently low, and my blood pressure was well within the normal range.  I couldn’t wait to see my doctor so much to see if they could start reducing my medications. Also, another happy by-product was that I started losing weight.  In fact, during the 6-week program, I went from 156lbs to 144 lbs and lost 12 pounds.  I was very happy about this development.

Before I started the Gift of Health program I was taking 6 pills a day to control my diabetes and high blood pressure. I have been on this journey for 6 months. Now,  I am down to one pill a day!

“Since I have started this program I feel I have a chance to live a much longer life and be free from diabetes and associated complications of heart and kidney issues etc. I will now be able to fully enjoy my retirement years in a free and happy way.!”

We are so glad to catch up with Beverly this week, 6 months since she completed the program.

She is healthy, happy and free!!  Her health is no longer keeping her back.

She is now living her life to the fullest and on her own terms!

We couldn’t be happier as Beverly celebrates this milestone.  We are over the moon hearing Beverly’s progress!
