Puffed Wheat Savory Snack

As a movie experience is never complete without the popcorn, a trip to the beach is never complete without this savory snack (for Indians especially). This snack is loved by people of all age groups and all cultures. Just gather all the ingredients and mix them. It’s as simple as that!


  1. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients except the puffed wheat/rice and cilantro. Mix well.
  2. Just before serving add the puffed rice/wheat to the bowl and mix well. Garnish with cilantro. You can adjust the taste to your liking. If would like it to be spicier, you can add more chili powder.
  3. Enjoy!


4 cups of puffed wheat or puffed rice
1/2 of a small onion, finely diced
1/2 of a cup of tomato, finely diced
1/4 cup of cucumber, finely diced (optional)
1/4 cup of cooked chickpeas (optional)
A handful of peanuts
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon of paprika or chili powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 tablespoons of chopped cilantro
