Description

During the pandemic spread of COVID-19, we were all worried about protecting ourselves and our families. Though we can never guarantee life, we can definitely give our bodies a fighting chance. One thing that we can do to fight against viruses and illnesses during these times is to boost our immune system.

Whether it’s during the pandemic or regular flu season, this is a simple drink that you can make and have it every day to trigger your immune system and prevent yourself from getting cold, cough, and flu-like symptoms.  If you are currently experiencing these symptoms, you can also have this drink to combat these illnesses.

I usually make this in bulk (around 6 to 8 cups) for the whole family. You can have 1/4 cup of drink, 4 to 5 times throughout the day if you are currently experiencing a blocked nose, cold, or other flu-like symptoms. When you are symptom-free, you can just have it once a day to prevent yourself from getting infections.

Method:

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to boil. Add all the remaining ingredients. If you do not have access to fresh ingredients (such as basil, neem leaves, cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon, ginger) you can use the grounded powders.
  2. Turn off the stove when the water comes to a roaring boil.
  3. Strain the water into a dish and let it cool down to a lukewarm temperature.
  4. This drink has a bitter taste. When you are serving it to children, you can add some honey to sweeten it a little bit.

If you do not have access to any of the ingredients such as neem leaf, you can still make it with the remaining ingredients.

In the beginning, you may not be fond of the bitter taste. You can start by having 1-2 tablespoons and then gradually increase to 1/4 cup. You can sweeten it with honey or jaggery to get the bitter drink down but avoid using sugar.

You can get neem leaf powder and tulsi leaf powder from Amazon online or in health food stores.

Enjoy your day with better immunity!
