Description

Potatoes are nutritional powerhouses. They are full of fiber, vitamins and many other nutrients. Unfortunately, potatoes get a bad reputation because of some of the ways we prepare them. What makes the potatoes unhealthy is the added fats like oil or butter or cheese or sour cream that we choose to put on. Healthy ways of cooking potatoes are boiling, baking, steaming or frying them without using any added fats.

Here is a healthy way of enjoying guilt-free potato fries. The tools you will need to make this recipe are french fries cutter, steamer and ActiFry.

Method:

Prep time – 5-7 minutes. Cooking time 35 minutes.

  1. Wash and scrub the potatoes. No need to peel the potatoes. The peel of potatoes is loaded with nutrients, fiber and iron. Cut the potatoes into slender long pieces with a knife or french fries cutter.
  2. Steam the cut potatoes in a steamer for 6 minutes. We use epicure silicone steamer. Steaming the potatoes before putting them in the ActiFry makes it easy for the herbs, spices and salt to stick well.
  3. You can add your choice of seasoning ranging from just salt, garlic powder and pepper to epicure oven fries seasoning.  Shake to mix well.
  4. Put the potatoes in the ActiFry for 25-28 minutes.
  5. If you don’t have an actifry, you can bake them in the oven until they turn crisp. Bake them at 375 F for 25 to 35 mins depending on your oven.

Enjoy with ketchup or cheeze sauce or gravy.

1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tsp of onion powder
1/4 tsp of ground pepper
1/4 tsp of salt
