Cucumber Pachadi

This is a very spicy dish and a delicacy from South Indian cuisine.


  1. Peel the cucumber and dice them. Keep them aside.
  2. Heat a saucepan. Add chopped tomatoes, chilies, tamarind paste, coriander powder and let it boil until tomatoes thicken. Turn off the stove
  3. In a blender, add curry leaves, salt, peanuts and blend them first. Later add tomato mixture fromĀ the saucepan and blend it again.
  4. Dry roastĀ the ingredients listed under tempering.
  5. Pour the blended mixture over diced cucumber and mix them well. Add the dry roasted seasoning and cilantro before serving. Enjoy!


3 cups of cucumber, diced
2 tomatoes, chopped
4 green chilies
1 teaspoon of tamarind paste
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
8-10 curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of roasted unsalted peanuts
For Tempering/Seasoning:
1/4 teaspoon of yellow gram
1/4 teaspoon of black gram
1/4 teaspoon of mustard seeds
1/8 teaspoon of asafetida
1 tablespoon of cilantro, chopped
