Carrot hot dogs

With summer, comes barbecues, picnics and parties. And what are barbeques without hot dogs. Along came Myrtle Kelly to introduce us to flavorful yet healthy hot dogs. Enough said… see below for the super easy recipe


  1. Peel the carrots and shape them to look like wieners by rounding the edges
  2. Boil them for 15-20 min until they are cooked but not too soft.
  3. Meanwhile prepare your marinade by combining all the ingredients.
  4. When carrots are cooked, place in cold water to cool.
  5. Pour the marinade in the ziplock bag and place the carrots in the bag. Marinate for atleast 4 hrs in the fridge.
  6. When marinated, place them in the frying pan and brown them using some of the marinade (as needed).
  7. Put them in the hot dog bun and add your favorite condiments and relish.


10 carrots
10 whole wheat hot dog buns
For marinade:
3/4 cup water
2 Tbs Soy sauce
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp dijon mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
dash of pepper
1 dash liquid smoke (optional)
