DELICIOUS

Description

Barley as cooked cereal has become one of our favorite breakfasts. We love its nutty and chewy consistency. It is a powerhouse of nutrients, filled with fibre and protein and it is very filling. No wonder the mighty warriors of the Roman Empire (Gladiators) were also called Barley men.

Cook whole barley in a rice cooker (takes about 25 to 30 minutes to cook depending on the cooker). Barley can also be cooked over the stovetop. Use 2 1/2 cups of water for 1 cup of barley. It usually takes about 15-20 minutes for it to cook.

Once Barley is cooked add all of the other ingredients and enjoy.

If you would like to make it sweeter add a spoonful of maple syrup or more raisins or more bananas.

Ingredients

2 cups of whole barley, cooked
2 tablespoons of flaxseed powder
2 bananas, sliced
2 apples
Strawberries
Blueberries
Sliced almonds
Raisins
2 cups of non-dairy milk (soy milk or almond milk).
