Description

Want a nut free, low cost, quick (literally less than 5 minutes), delicious plant-based milk? Here it is: Oat milk!

Making homemade plant-based milk has become extra fun and simple after we bought the Joyoung Milk Maker. You can make different kinds of milk including soy, almond, rice, hemp, oat, cashew, coconut, peanut, you name it… On top of it, you can control what ingredients to add and you need not worry about the preservatives or chemicals added in the store-bought milk. The milk can be stored in the fridge for 4 -7 days

It has a convenient feature of making milk either with dried or soaked grain/bean/nut.

Method:

In a Vitamix or high powered blender:

  1. Soak steel cut oats for 20 minutes or overnight
  2. Rinse and drain the oats
  3. Blend 1 cup of oats with 3 cups of water.
  4. Using a fine sieve strainer or nutmilk bag, strain the milk.
  5. You can add sweetener of your choice (dates, maple syrup), if you like it flavored.

In Milk Maker/ Joyoung Milk Maker:

  1. Using the measuring cup provided with the milk maker, add 1 cup of steel cut oats in the milk maker. Pour water until the 1700ml mark
  2. You can add sweetener of your choice (dates, maple syrup), if you like it flavored.
  3. Cover the lid and turn it on. Select the dry bean function
  4. The machine will beep when the milk is ready
  5. Filter the milk with the sieve provided.

Ingredients

1 cup of steel cut oats
2-3 Medjool dates (optional)
